Danielle's Dream Comes True

Danielle was spending her first trip to the United States with her best friend Kim Possible, when Kim said that she had a surprise for Danielle. When Danielle inquired to what the surprise was, Kimmie just giggled and said if she told her, it wouldn't be a surprise! What Danielle didn't know was, that Kim was taking her to a tourist railroad that operated steam locomotives, and she had made a comment earlier that she always wanted to see a real live operating american steam locomotive.

When they pulled into the parking lot, Danielle was indeed surprised at what she saw: a real american steam locomotive, and it was the same wheel arraingment as the one from her country, a 4-6-0 ten-wheeler. Her absolute favorite! "Like what you see?" Kim asked the very excited girl. "Like it? I love it!" Danielle said trying to control her excitement. "Good", said the red head heroine, because this train is waiting for it's engineer to take it out on it's run. "Oh? It is? Where is the engineer?" Danielle asked innocently. "I'm looking at her", Kim said with a smile. "Your engineer's outfit is waiting for you, so let's get changed into them!"

After the girls got changed and was familiarized with the operating rules, Danielle assumed her position on the right-hand side of the cab, observing that the throttle, reverse lever, injectors, and such were simular to the ones she was used to operating in her home country. What Danielle didn't know that Kim took a quick course on being a fireman to learn how to properly fire the mechanical beast before Danielle was to come to visit. "I'm not sure I can operate this engine properly", Danielle said kind of worried. "Nonsense", Kim replied. "Besides, I know about the automatic and independent brakes to make sure you keep it under control. As we get under way, it will be just like the one you ran at home, so just enjoy my little present to you, my friend."

Later, as the train chugged at a leisurely pace in the spring sun, Danielle had indeed got full control of the engine and was now operating it as if she was back home with her other steamer. Seeing her friend operating with confidence, Kim took a quick break from shoveling coal into the hot firebox to catch a breeze in the gangway and wave to the cars that was pacing along side the train. As the train rolled along, Danielle thought to herself: "My dream has come true. I'm running a real american steam engine and my best friend made it a reality".
Yes Danielle. Anything is possible.
Especially when a possible is involved.

This is for who is a railfan as well as a friend. Being a real life engineer, I thought it would be cool having his original character Danielle operating an american steam locomotive. What you see is done totally free-hand, so I apoligize for the roughness of the pic. Oh, and the locomotive is based loosely on the first steam locomotive I rode way back in April of 1978.
